In an exciting debut match for the Kate Sheppard Cup, the Wellington Phoenix clinched a 3-2 victory over Waterside Karori. This historic win secures their place in the semifinals after a rule change allowed their first appearance in the competition. The Phoenix dominated much of the match, building a comfortable 3-0 lead. However, a spirited comeback by Waterside Karori in the dying minutes saw them score twice (86th and 90th minute). Despite the late scare, the Phoenix held on to secure their place in the next round.
